Tin.180, 2013 Soundinstallation, 36 Channel and Sub, Tins and Transducers
Based on the painting "The Battle between Carnival and Fasting" (Pieter Bruegel 1559), Alex Kasses designed a sonic as well as visual space that is primarily dedicated to the theme of selective perception. The chaos of the world is thought in a sonic way with the principle of chance as an experiential space. Wherever you go sound spaces are in constant transformation, surrounding you or resonating in the far distance. A specially developed program in Max Msp organizes the time and structure of the samples and assembles them into constantly new combinations. On the sonic level a certainly highly interesting fusion of the existing sounds at that time are taken up as an idea in this installation and re-contextualized for the viewer in a walk-through situation.
